Bicycling to the NWTR Victoria, BC

June & July - 2009

Tuesday July 7, 2009
Anacortes to Snohomish WA
Distance 60.5 Miles

We woke up to wet streets and dark skies, but we have no choice but to eat breakfast in the room and head south and east up the hill. It was very cold most of the day and Mary Kay was glad to have warm knees. The wind was a headwind, slowing us down most of the day and felt like it was coming from the North not the South. We stopped at a café in a market coming out of Mt. Vernon. We were very glad to get the warm food and it was a good thing we stopped as we did not see any more food for the next 20 miles. We had our second lunch near Arlington. We were told there was a paved bicycle trail all the way to Snohomish but we never did find the start of the trail so we shared Highway 9 with all the cars and trucks. It was a long cold day, but at least we only had a few sprinkles.

The motel forgot to write down our reservation, so they gave us an upgrade, a nice room with a tub with jets, a nice way to end a cold hilly day after supper.

Today was a long cold dark day and we did not stop and take any pictures.
