Hannibal, MO - Rest Day

Monday, September 22, 2003
Distance Cycled: 0 miles

Today day was a rest day, but you could of called it a Chore Day. We spent the day washing clothes, fixing the bike, exploring Hannibal, MO and finding a new routing to Cape Girardead, MO. We have decided to follow the river down to St. Lewis rather then follow the Adventure Cycling Maps.

Hannibal has several old houses that have been preserved because they were the houses that Mark Twain used in his stories of Tom Sawyer. The town uses these attractions to have tourists come to the town. It really is a nice town to visit and our hotel was only about 3 blocks from the home where Sam Clemens grew up. We had a great time visiting the city and in the evening we walled down to the river with both Gary and Becky. Gary left us in Hannibal and Becky will start riding with us tomorrow.
