Bicycling New England, the
Erie Canal, & around Lake Ontario 2005
Buffalo, NY

July 21 to 22, 2005
Family Days

The first thing we did Thursday morning was start working on our work list. Bruce took Dexter (his and Amber's Dog) to doggie day care. Next we returned the rental car to the airport, picked up mail at the post office, did some grocery shopping, and finally returned to Bruce and Amber's house. By noon we had completed all of our jobs, which gave us the rest of the time to relax, talk and read until Amber got home from work. Bruce and Jim picked up Dexter from doggie day care while Mary Kay watched Amber prepare another great supper.

After supper we drove to Orchard Park where we listened at an outdoor concert for 1 and ½ hours to great music. What a great way to finish a lazy day. The music was great and everyone was relaxed and enjoyed the show.

Friday we sorted our clothes to decide what we would take with us on our remaining bicycle trip around Lake Ontario. Mary Kay washed the dirty clothes; Jim loaded up the GPS with our route for the next two weeks. Our only work today is to buy paint for Amber. She plans on painting the room we have been sleeping in from yellow to purple and green with one wall being plaid. This will be a real transformation and we are looking forward to seeing the results.

Barbara and Scott arrived just before dinner. Tomorrow morning the four of us will began bicycle riding around Lake Ontario following the route that Scott has been preparing for us. Using current technology Scott emailed us the route and we will download the file to our GPS.

Barbara and Scott surprised us with their new bicycle, they had purchased a used tandem recumbent made by Bicycle Friday. The bicycle can fold up and be put into a suitcase. It is a great bicycle and this will be their first long trip with the bike.

Amber again cooked us a great meal and then we all took the car to the local ice-cream store for dessert. Then it was off to bed and get ready for tomorrows ride.
