Boston MA - Rest Day

June 24, 2005

We had a later start this morning, so when we arrived downtown we headed for a harbor cruise, we were not sure of the start time so we had about a 30 min wait to start the cruise. The harbor cruise took us around Boston Harbor and gave us a great view of the downtown Boston skyline.

We then continued onto the Boston Navy yard where the USS Constitution is on display.

George and Jane got off the ship and stayed for the tour of the USS Constitution, but because we had visited the USS Constitution before we headed back to Boston on the boat. Mary Kay spent the time waiting for George and Jane to return shopping. She found a very nice new red top.

After George and Jane rejoined us, we headed for the Back Bay section of Boston. When we reached the new John Hancock tower (the tallest building in Boston) we saw great reflections of other buildings in the glass sides of the Hancock tower.

We walked around the Back Bay, stopped at the Boston Public library. Really a fantastic Library more like a museum of great art. Many of the walls have murals on them, a must see. As we left we passed a place that sells tickets to today's events, Mary Kay stopped and asked if it was possible to get tickets to the Boston Pops that evening. For $14.50 each we got 4 tickets to the evening performance of the Boston Pops.

The performance was a highlight of our trip. Outstanding. A great finish to a great day, something none of us will ever forget.
